My very talented friend Sarah asked me to help her construct a sombrero cake for the Mexican party. She had already two white chocolate cakes made and the chocolate top so I got to help with fun part of putting it altogether.
We cut up the other cake and used it around the edges of the first (circular cake). Then we used a knife to smooth the edges and make them more curved. We also used leftover bits of the cake to fill in the gaps between each bit.
Then it was time for icing and decorating. The icing was made from white chocolate and cream and put on roughly since sombreros are not super smooth hats. Once iced we made patterns using icing pens.
The cake looked with a sombrero but was also like a pinata as when the knife when in the middle, out poured a lot of lollies. A tasty white chocolate cake with lollies on top...just the type of cake I like!!
Another cool idea was to make a dip shaped like the mexican flag- guacamole, sour cream and salsa. I love how simple and effective this idea was. For the symbol in the centre of the sour cream, simply print the symbol in colour and laminate it.
Oh how much more fun is food with a theme!
This is really Nice, yummy & interesting as well..thanks for sharing with us :)
