I am almost halfway through my year long challenge to be more and more content with what I have and only buy from thrift shops/ garage sales. I am feeling pleased with the changes to my shopping habits that I have been making and want 2013 to be a year where I focus on material possessions less and spend more time enjoying experiences.
Sometimes it's so easy to not shop; especially when there aren't really many places to shop nearby and sometimes it's so hard. When I'm in my little town I look round and feel plenty trendy enough; but when I go to the city or a special event suddenly it's a little harder to be content.
I have a little confession to make; as I'm on holiday in Malaysia at the moment I've had to change up my challenge just a small bit. Usually when I go away I spend a lot of the time shopping and purchase lots but this time around I have made a conscious effort to spend more time having experiences and creating lasting memories, like getting a kiss from a giraffe :) But I confess- I have bought a few things which you just can't get in Australia, so I'm making a small adjustment to my challenge- a few souvenir items may be bought during overseas holidays. After all this is kind of a once off special trip! and although things don't make memories, it's nice to have some reminders.
I've still got one more week of sun, beaches and exploring before I'm back but then I'll have lots to share with you!

I love your thriftiness! And a bit jealous you got a giraffe kiss. What a fun memory!

Thank you so much for the nomination! That's so sweet of you. the giraffe kiss was amazing :)- they've been my favourite animals for years so to get so close was brilliant.
