DIY jewellery.

I recently went to Canberra and found the most lovely craft supplies in one of the shops. They are packaged by "craft makes me happy" which has it's own facebook page. I'm sure you can get the pieces from other places but I was quite pleased with the prices. You can buy 5 kids clips for $2.50, 5 bobby pin clips for $3, 3 rings for $4, a pack of 20 resin roses for $9 and 3 fabric flowers for $5.

I got out my glue gun and have made 3 rings, 3 clips and 4 bobby pin clips so far and these only cost $23.50 and still have supplies for a few more. These make great gifts and the only tool you'll need is a glue gun. *Although I used a glue gun to start off with, I found that silocone glue works better for holding it together for the long haul.

These rings and bobby pins will make cute future gifts.

I look forward to finding other little pieces like vintage buttons to create more interesting jewellery now I've got some bases to work with. Nothing like a visit to a craft store to get this country girl excited!

Earrings on display.

Ah it's november already!- practically 4 months down in my thrifty challenge and finally a post for november. I promise some more regular posting coming up!

Let's get this month started with a super easy craft.

I love a pretty pair of earrings. They can help make an outfit pop! but I'm always losing one or forget I own them so I made a nifty little display for some of my favourites.

It's so easy. All you need is

a frame

a doily

a staple gun

I actually gave my frame 2 coats of bermuda blue spray paint since it was a pretty old and ordinary looking frame but if you're frame is nice, why bother?
Then I found a good sized doily and stapled it in place around the frame.
I put in my earrings and voila!- easy to see, looking pretty!

And remember my old restored wardrobe? I got round to adding some new draw handles which I think really work. Goodbye only having one handle and hello to matching cute handles which complete my project. Finally I can cross this one of the to do list.

Cameo earrings.

A cameo wood carving Grandpa made us earlier this year for our bed. Isn't he incredible? The L and P are for our names and the S is for our surname. This cameo is actually the same as the one we used on our wedding invitations 3 years ago.

I think cameos are just gorgeous. In fact I have a whole collection started when my great gran gave me a little necklace with a cameo for a birthday.Now I'm always on the lookout for more...what's a collection if you don't keep adding to it? I found these lovely cameo beads at a market about 4 years ago and finally got around to turning them into something I can actually use. This idea works with any pretty beads or bits and pieces you have lying around.

You need:

2 beads you love (like my pretty cameo ones)

A glue gun

A set of studs

How to:

This is super easy. 

Just warm up your glue gun and attach the beads to the studs. 

Then wait until the glue is hard and set and put them on!

I'm just pleased I can now wear my pretty cameo beads and everyone can see me in all my cameo obsessed goodness!
